Government of India has initiated a program of Cyber Jagrookta (Cyber Awareness).
Please be informed that India Post never asks anyone to share personal details such as account number, date of birth, security questions, OTP with anyone.
This mail is also to request to be aware and follow the following Basic Cyber Hygiene Protocols for being safe while working online:
Do’s
✅ Install and maintain up to date anti – virus software on desktop/laptop/tab or mobile.
✅ Keep Operating system / internet browser up to date and use pop-up blocker feature and private browser settings. Delete the cookies and browsing history regularly.
✅ Be alert to unusual computer activity / problems.
✅ Lock / Shut down the computer when not in use.
✅ Change your passwords at least once in 90 days. Use Strong passwords.
✅ Be careful about the content that is shared online.
Don’ts
❌ Share personal details such as account number, date of birth, security questions, OTP with anyone.
❌ Click on unnecessary links sent via Instant Messaging such as WhatsApp, Instagram etc.
❌ Open Tiny URLs / Short URLs/ Bit.lys. Always open the complete URLs.
❌ Open email attachments unless the source / sender is trusted.
❌ Fall prey to fake news / rumours on social media even if the subject matter states as related with jobs / subsidies of the Government provided by India Post. Always confirm the source.
❌ Become online friends with someone you do not know / have just met.
❌ Connect to unknown wi-fi / hotspots.
